Gardasil Injury Settlement

Gardasil Injury Settlement

The first Gardasil Injury Settlement in the US. The first Gardasil litigation to reach a U.S. jury has ended in a confidential settlement.

The landmark lawsuit that put Merck’s Gardasil HPV vaccine on trial. The litigation was particularly focused on ovarian failure cases that lead to infertility in women who have taken Gardasil in the last few years.

Gardasil is a vaccine intended to prevent human papillomavirus (HPV), which can sometimes lead to cervical cancer in women. HPV is a common virus that is easily passed through skin contact. HPV is the most common STD, and it is estimated that 2/3 of the adult population will have an HPV infection during their lifetime. Most HPV cases are harmless. But a very small percentage of HPV cases in women can potentially contribute to the development of cervical cancer.

The most common injuries alleged in Gardasil lawsuits include POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), premature ovarian insufficiency, autoimmune disorders such as lupus and multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, and chronic debilitating fatigue.

The settlement is reportedly worth more than $50 million and would resolve more than 200 cases, including a closely watched Los Angeles case that had been scheduled for trial next month.
