Gynaecology Claims Ysbyty Gwynedd have resulted in 25 Women receiving compensation. After Surgery by one Doctor at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board the hospital trust has made payments for hysterectomy, TVT and TOT mesh, Ventrosuspension, unnecessary surgery and failures in consent.

It has faced several serious claims and investigations and is again in the news.

Recent reports in 2025 identified poor maternity care and failures in consent in gynaecology. Patients have also reported sub-standard care leading to preventable death.Some surgeries were not clinically indicated. Some surgery was not told to a patient until after it was undertaken.

In February 2025, the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales did an unannounced inspection of maternity services at Ysbyty Gwynedd. The report that followed identified several areas where the hospital’s practices were poor.

Y Byd ar Bedwar has spoken to seven women in north Wales who have received compensation following surgery carried out. Several say they did not consent to the procedures they underwent, and most describe chronic pain that has had a devastating impact on their lives.
