Hysterectomy after Mismanaged Complications following birth
Have you had a hysterectomy after mismanaged complications following birth?
An emergency hysterectomy following mismanaged childbirth complications is a last-resort. Whilst it could be a life-saving procedure it is usually driven by severe, uncontrollable postpartum hemorrhage (PPH).
Most often this is caused by retained placenta, uterine atony, or uterine rupture.

Mismanagement, such as failing to promptly address retained placenta or ignoring symptoms, can necessitate this surgery, resulting in permanent infertility.
We call for greater recognition, improved measurements, and collective action and funding to prevent and manage medium-term and long-term consequences of labour and childbirth. This neglect has led to an unfounded misperception that these conditions are uncommon or unimportant.
We need Doctors to consider a broad range of functional, emotional, behavioural, sexual, and other quality-of-life issues affecting women in the postpartum period
