Pelvic Mesh Erosion

Pelvic Mesh Erosion

Pelvic Mesh Erosion is one of the most frequently reported complications associated with pelvic mesh.

It is a condition in which the implanted material gradually wears into nearby tissue or organs. This then leads to chronic pain, bleeding, infection, urinary problems, or painful intercourse, and in some cases, may require one or more revision surgeries. This is a potential link between the inflammation caused by erosion and cancer.

Medical literature has identified mesh exposure or erosion as one of the leading reasons patients undergo additional procedures following transvaginal mesh implantation. These complications have contributed significantly to ongoing regulatory review and litigation involving pelvic mesh products. Yet despite this, Doctors still deny the existence of complications or give evidence in support of a hospital that they were not negligent for the surgery.

Erosion means implanted material has worn into or through living tissue, sometimes becoming exposed. Our client’s report pelvic pain, painful sex, urinary incontinence, bleeding, discharge, or repeated infections. They undergo multiple corrective surgery before having the mesh removed. Symptoms can reflect migration, tissue breakdown, nerve irritation, or inflammation that needs prompt clinical review.
