PIVS MESH CLAIM

This surgical procedure treats pelvic organ prolapse (POP)—specifically vaginal vault or uterine prolapse—by using a piece of mesh (usually made of polypropylene plastic) like a sling to anchor and hold the organs in place. It was inserted via the buttocks which caused horrendous injury.
The primary complications associated with this mesh include:
- Mesh erosion or exposure: The mesh can wear through the vaginal wall or enter neighbouring organs.
- Chronic pain: Severe pelvic, vaginal, or groin pain.
- Dyspareunia: Painful intercourse.
- Infection and fistulas: Recurrent pelvic infections or structural tears
- Fistulas – the track through to buttocks
Problems experienced include:
- Vaginal, groin, urethral, rectal or suprapubic pain
- Vaginal bleeding or discharge secondary to mesh exposure
- Pain intercourse (dyspareunia) or pain for partner (hispareunia)
