Success of Asherman’s Treatment

Success of Asherman’s Treatment

Success of Asherman’s Treatment is varied. Some centres claim 90% success rate whilst others 40%. The truth is no one really knows. That is why it is important to obtain specialist help from respected sources.

Surgical treatment for Asherman’s syndrome—primarily hysteroscopic adhesiolysis—achieves a high rate of anatomical restoration, though success rates vary heavily depending on the severity of the scar tissue and subsequent pregnancy goals. Normal menstrual flow is restored in most patients after surgery when the blockage of scar tissue is removed. Extensive adhesions that block more than 75% of the cavity or damage the deeper myometrium have lower success rates.

Scar tissue reforms in roughly 31% to 50% of cases, often requiring repeat hysteroscopic procedures, barrier gels, balloon catheters, or hormone therapy to protect the healing lining.

Overall live birth rates after surgical treatment range between 41% and 67%, depending heavily on the severity of the original scarring and the success of the repair.
